Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the website at melven.ai and its related services (together, “Melven”, the “Service”, “we”, “us”). By visiting the site, creating an account or otherwise using the Service you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

The Service publishes research about sports-betting markets and is strictly for adults. You may only use the Service if:

• you are at least 18 years old (or older, where the law that applies to you sets a higher age for gambling-related content);
• you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms; and
• using the Service does not violate any law that applies to you.

We may suspend or close accounts that we reasonably believe belong to minors.

Melven publishes statistical research on football match pricing: a model’s probability estimates, comparisons against bookmaker odds, match reports, rankings, tournament forecasts and a public, hash-anchored record of the model’s published picks.

The Service is NOT:

• a bookmaker, betting exchange or gambling operator — we accept no wagers and process no gambling transactions;
• betting advice, investment advice or a recommendation to place any bet;
• affiliated with any bookmaker — we hold no bookmaker affiliations and do not link to betting operators.

Published picks are the output of a statistical model, released for transparency and research. They are records of what the model computed — not instructions, tips or promises.

• All content is provided for informational and educational purposes only.
• A published “edge” is a model estimate. Models are wrong, sometimes badly and sometimes systematically.
• Past performance of the published record is no guarantee of future results.
• Any decision to gamble — and every consequence of it — is yours alone. Never bet money you cannot afford to lose.
• Gambling is regulated differently in every jurisdiction. It is your responsibility to know and follow the rules that apply to you; where gambling is unlawful for you, you must not use the Service in connection with gambling.

Parts of the Service may require an account. Sign-in is handled by our authentication provider (Clerk). You agree to:

• provide accurate account information and keep it up to date;
• keep your credentials secure and not share your account;
• be responsible for all activity under your account.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms, abuse the Service or create risk for us or other users. You can stop using the Service and request deletion of your account at any time.

The Service is currently free of charge. We may introduce paid plans in the future; if we do, prices, billing terms and any additional conditions will be presented to you before you pay, and payment processing will be handled by a third-party payment provider. We may add, change or remove features of the free or any paid tier at any time.

The Service and its content — including the model, its outputs, the pick ledger, match reports, text, design and branding — are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by law. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes.

You may not, without our prior written permission:

• scrape, bulk-download or systematically extract data from the Service;
• resell, redistribute or republish picks, predictions or datasets, whether free or paid;
• use the content to train competing models or build competing services;
• remove or obscure attribution, notices or branding.

Exception: the published verification hashes and the methodology needed to verify them are public by design — you are welcome to share and independently verify them.

You agree not to:

• use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms;
• interfere with or disrupt the Service, its infrastructure or other users;
• attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service or its systems;
• circumvent access controls, rate limits or technical restrictions;
• impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation with anyone.

The Service relies on third-party providers (for example authentication, hosting and data infrastructure) and may link to third-party resources such as responsible-gambling organisations or odds archives used to verify published prices. Those services and sites have their own terms and we are not responsible for their content or availability.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. In particular:

• we do not warrant that probabilities, odds, results, settlements or any other data are accurate, complete or current — source data can contain errors and models can be wrong;
• we do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free;
• no content on the Service constitutes a promise of profit or performance.

To the maximum extent permitted by law: we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, money staked or lost gambling, data or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose and EUR 50.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law (including liability for gross negligence or wilful misconduct).

You will indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, damages and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms or your unlawful use of the Service.

If you choose to gamble, set limits and stick to them. If gambling stops being fun or feels out of control, stop and seek help — national helplines and self-exclusion schemes exist in most countries, and anonymous support is available from organisations such as Gamblers Anonymous and your local problem-gambling helpline.

We may update these Terms from time to time, for example when the Service changes. The “Last updated” date above always reflects the current version, and material changes will be signposted on the site. Your continued use of the Service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Iceland, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the District Court of Reykjavík (Héraðsdómur Reykjavíkur), except where mandatory consumer-protection law gives you the right to bring proceedings in your country of residence.

• If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in force.
• Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
• These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service.
• You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
